India tour of England 2018, Five Match Test Series, Fourth Test Match, England vs India
Thursday, August 30, 2018, The Rose Bowl, Southampton
India’s win at the Trent Bridge in the third Test match has turned the tide against England and visitors does seem comfortable going into the fourth Test match of the five match series in Southampton. A win in this Test match will give the series to England while India have to produce either a win or a Draw in this match to stay alive in the series.
Hardik Pandya was lucky enough to pick up a five wicket haul in England’s first innings and it looked kind of a one-off. Even Hardik looked embarrassed to raise the ball and show it to the crowd after completing the feat! Battle between Ishant Sharma and England openers would be interesting to watch while there is no news yet on injured Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.
Meanwhile, hosts England have announced their playing XI in advance. Moeen Ali and Sam Curran are the new additions to the team as they replace injured Chris Woakes and out-of-form Ollie Pope. Jonny Bairstow is playing in the side as a specialist batsman while Jos Buttler will play the wicket keeper role!
England selectors have given their openers, Alastair Cook and Keaton Jennings, another chance to open the innings. This might be the last chance before they drop any of their openers or both. Both these batsmen have been in terrible form in the series and are only increasing pressure on their middle order batsmen by losing their wicket early.
England are currently leading the series by 2-1 with two more matches to go! Home team won the first two Test matches comfortably while India make a great comeback to win the third Test match at Nottingham.
