India tour of England 2018, Second Test Match, Day 2, England vs India
Friday, August 10, 2018, Lord’s London
Day 2 Wrap:
James Anderson and English bowling attack made the headlines on Day 2 in the second Test match between England and India at the Lord’s venue. After a complete washout on Day 1, one has got to see a brilliant display of swing bowling on Day 2; India were bowled out for just 107 runs.
James Anderson is the pick of the bowlers with yet another five-for at Lord’s, his 6th such feat in an innings at this venue. Started it by cleaning up Murali Vijay in the very first over of the match with a brilliant ‘flick me if you can’ delivery! He got the wickets of both the Indian openers and the wicket of Ajinkya Rahane along with two tail enders.
Chris Woakes needs a big round of applause besides Jimmy. He got the ball to swing by a large margin that at one stage Root deployed six slips in the slip cordon in addition to the wicketkeeper. The bowler had drawn the edge almost every ball he bowled with brilliant out-swing bowling!
Though Ashwin showed some resilience with the bat, he got one peach of a delivery from Stuart Broad to go and sit back in the pavilion! Dropped from the team for the first Test match at Edgbaston and has been betrayed by his own captain in the second Test match. At the moment, you don’t want to be a guy named ‘Cheteshwar Pujara’ who departed as a run-out!
Every time Jos Buttler (England’s second slip) missed or dropped a player, he caught him the very next delivery. He missed/dropped Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya and in the very next deliveries he dismissed them by taking two brilliant catches!
On Day 3, all eyes will be on both the out-of-form England openers to see the new ball through!
