South Africa tour of Sri Lanka 2018, One-off T20I Match, Sri Lanka vs South Africa
Tuesday, August 14, 2018, R Premadasa Stadium
The long leg of South Africa tour of Sri Lanka 2018 finally reached to its fag end! After a two match Test series and a five match ODI series, home team Sri Lanka and visitors South Africa are locking horns in the one-off T20I match, final game in this tour, on Tuesday (Aug 14). Play is scheduled to start at 07:00 pm local time (07:00 pm IST).
Sri Lanka won the Test series convincingly by a 2-0 margin while South Africa made a comeback to win the ODI series by a margin of 3-2. Both teams will now be eager to win this one-off game to finish the tour on a high! On a lighter note, tickets were sold out for this match and a full crowd is expected tonight unless rain makes an unexpected appearance!
Sri Lanka might include Dinesh Chandimal in their playing who is returning after serving a 6-match ban. They might drop Upul Tharanga for this game. Also, South Africa might consider resting their opener Hashim Amla for this one-off game.
This one-off T20I is the second time these teams playing a T20I at Premadasa Stadium. The last time these two teams played at this venue, South Africa won the match by 12 runs while successfully defending just 115 runs against Sri Lanka (August 2013).
Head to Head Record:
Both these teams played 9 T20I matches against each other so far out of which South Africa won 5 games and Sri Lanka won 4 games. And the win-loss record in Sri Lanka is in favor of the visitors South Africa who had won 3 out of the 4 games played so far.
Favorites to win:
Sri Lanka were looking dull after losing the first three ODIs of the five match series. However, they made a strong comeback in the remaining two ODIs to finish the series on a high! South Africa, on the other hand, are looking dull at the moment with too many experiments on this tour! Moreover, they are missing their experienced campaigners – Imran Tahir and Chris Morris. Considering the performances in the last two limited-overs games, Sri Lanka will start this game as favorites.
