AB de Villiers has once again shocked everyone with one of his decisions! First he surprised the whole cricket fraternity by announcing his retirement from International cricket in May this year. He then made it clear that he will feature in no T20 league around the globe but play an active role in the domestic circuit in South Africa.
And later AB took a step back to announce his availability for Indian Premier League (IPL) for few more seasons. And on Friday (Sep 07), he signed his maiden sign up for Pakistan Super League as he is set to feature in the PSL 2019 draft. AB made this announcement through a video message in which he said he is excited to be part of PSL.
“Pakistan Super League has grown into one of the top T20 tournaments in the world and I’ve really enjoyed watching PSL matches in recent years. PSL is a league that has given Pakistan so much to cheer about. I certainly can’t wait and I’ll see you there,” said AB de Villiers.
PCB’s newly appointed Chairman Ehsan Mani applauded this big decision from AB de Villiers calling it a great learning curve for the youngsters in the domestic T20 tournament.
“We are delighted with the signing of de Villiers for Pakistan Super League. He is a modern-day great and he will add immense value to the tournament. His involvement in PSL will also provide great learning opportunities for our youngsters,” said Ehsan Mani.
De Villiers experience is this shortest format of the game is vast and massive! He, till date, feature in 251 Twenty 20 games in which he scored 6649 runs at a batting strike rate of 147.91 which includes 549 fours and 299 sixes. He has been part of Indian Premier League (CPL) for 11 seasons and also featured in Caribbean Premier league (CPL) in the year 2016.
