Virat Kohli showed steel and grit leading India to a 3rd Test win in South Africa. After being voted ICC World Cricketer of the Year for 2017, Kohli has continued to break records in all three forms of cricket. The Indian Captain went on to be named Captain of the ICC Test and ODI Teams for 2017 and lead India to a record equalling number of Test Series wins.

Here Are Some Facts that you probably didn’t know (or already know) about India’s Leader:

Cheeku

1.) Kohli’s nickname is ‘Cheeku’. His U/17 coach Ajit Choundhary bestowed the name on a young Kohli after a haircut. His barber had cut his hair short that it stood up like Cheeku the Rabbit. The name affectionally stuck.

2.) Kohli became the first man to average over 50 in all three international formats on December 11, 2016.

3.) India’s batting maestro has had a number of superstitions over his career. Steve Waugh had his red handkerchief. Earlier in his career Kohli would wear the same pair of gloves he had been scoring runs with.

4.) Did you know Kohli has a number of tattoos? From a Japanese Samurai Warrior to his Scorpio zodiac sign. Can you name them all?

5.) Lucky number 18 – Kohli’s team number from his U/19 days has been with him throughout his career.

6.) Kohli became the first Indian to score a World Cup century on debut against Bangladesh. Can you name the year?

7.) Captaincy brings out the best in Kohli. In his first three innings he scored three centuries against Australia down under.

8.) Virat loves his mother’s cooking. Some of his favourite food at home includes mutton biryani and kheer. Now who doesn’t love their mom’s cooking?

9.) Everyone remembers where they were when Tendulkar played through the loss of his father. In 2006 Kohli faced a similar tragedy. Playing a Ranji match he scored 90 despite the passing of his father.
