India Vs New Zealand Post Match Preview

New Zealand take the early lead in the series by winning the first ODI by 6 wickets in Mumbai. Playing his 200th ODI, Virat kohli won the toss and elected to bat first.

Indian innings didn’t started well, as both the openers (dhawan and rohit) dismissed in quick interval by Boult and India were29/2 after 6 overs.

Captain Kohli started to build the inning with Jhadav but the partnership didn’t last long, as jhadav was caught and bowled by the left arm spinner Santner.

India was under pressure and the score was 70/3 after 15 overs. Dinesh kartik, who was coming back to Indian side after a long interval, joins kohli in the middle, and started to build a partnership. Kartik played really well in his comeback match and made 37 runs before he was dismissed by Southee. Both produces 71 runs stand for the 4th wicket partnership.

Kohli carry on playing fluently and brings on his 50 but on the other side, wickets were falling on a constant interval, as both Dhoni and Pandya didn’t deliver upto expectation.

Playing on his 200th ODI, kohli made a 100 and he was 2nd Man after AB Devilliars to score a 100 in his 200th ODI

Game. India sets a target of 281 runs for the visitors. Trent boult was the pick of the bowlers, taken 4 wickets.

New Zealand started the inning really and openers put on a 48 runs partnership before Munro was dismissed by bumrah. India try to comeback in the match and got the wicket of Williamson and Guptil in the 13th and 18th over respectively.

India was on the driving seat as New Zealand were 80/3 and a new pair of Taylor and Latham was on the crease. Both started building the partnership and brings on their individuals fifty and were taking the game far from India.

India were unable to break this partnership and this was a turning point in this match. Both Taylor and Latham produces a 200 runs partnership stand and sealed the game for New Zealand. Ross Taylor falls 5 short of his 100 and Latham brings on his 4th ODI century and was awarded with Man of the match.

The second match of the series will be played in Pune on 25 October, where India will try to comeback and to level the series.
