England vs India Second ODI Preview

India tour of England 2018, Second ODI, England vs India

Saturday, July 14, 2018, Lord’s, London

Match Preview:

All the drama in the Trent Bridge ODI has been done and dusted. It was expected to be a great contest among batsmen from both the teams but it has become a complete mismatch. It is now time for the second ODI on Saturday (July 14) as the two teams travel to Lord’s. Play in second ODI is scheduled to start at 03:30 pm IST (11:00 am local time).

Twice in last two weeks, Indian left arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav derailed England batting line-up with his brilliant bowling – A five wicket haul in the first T20I and a six wicket haul in the first ODI on Thursday (July 12). Hosts would badly need something to come to their aid to help them come out of this ‘Kuldeep effect’.

However, they just need to do what they did in the second T20I in Sophia Gardens where they denied him even a single wicket. ‘Kuldeep Yadav vs England batsmen’ – watch out for this contest at Lord’s on Saturday in the second ODI.

Alex Hales with a side strain has been ruled out of the remainder of the ODI series against India and Dawid Malan has been retained for the second ODI as a batting cover. Joe Root completely failed with the bat in this India tour of England and it would be interesting to see how he is going to react to it in the second ODI.

With an 8 wicket win over England in the first ODI, India are currently leading the three match series by 1 – 0. A win for India in either of the remaining two games implies they win the ODI series as well. India have already won the three match T20I series against England in this tour by 2 – 1.

On a lighter note, In the three T20Is and in the first ODI – the teams batting second has won. A winning formula in this tour?
