Windies troubles in the white ball cricket continues as they lose yet another series to a lower-ranked team! Bangladesh defeated West Indies in the third and final ODI by 18 runs in St Kitts to win the ODI series by 2-1, the result hosts would soon want to forget! Bangladesh won the first match of the series by 48 runs while West Indies made a comeback in the second ODI winning it by 3 runs to square the series.

Having opted to bat first in the third ODI, Tamim provided Bangladesh a great start with his 11th ODI century. Mashrafe Mortaza batted at no. 6 and the move has worked in their favor as he scored a brisk 25-ball 36. Mahmudullah with an unbeaten half century guided Bangladesh to 301 for 6 in their 50 overs which proved just enough to defend against the mighty West Indies!

During the chase, Chris Gayle got in to the groove as he scored a 66-ball 73 with 6 fours and 5 sixes. However, Shai Hope (64 off 94) and Shimron Hetmyer (30 off 42) eaten up too many deliveries in the middle to give Bangladesh the advantage! Even an unbeaten 41-ball 74 from Rovman Powell in the end did not take Windies over the line!

Tamim Iqbal has been the star performer for the hosts in this short series – 130*, 54, 103. And he has been rightly adjudged as the ‘Player of the Match’ in this final ODI and ‘Player of the Series’. Both these two teams will meet in a three match T20I series which will be played from Tuesday (July 31).
