IPL 2018, 24th Match, Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs the Chennai Super Kings
Wednesday, 25th April, Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru
Match Review :
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru hosted their arch rivals the Chennai Super Kings in an 8pm fixture here at the Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru. The Hosts and their fans were silenced by a bossy performance from the IPL Juggernauts.
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru opted to bat first on a flat track and got off to a good start. Virat Kohli opened the Innings with Quinton de Kock and laid some foundation for AB de Villiers to launch from. De Villiers peppered the Chennai Bowlers, hitting them all over the park and hitting them quite cleanly. He, along with Quinton de Kock, kept the scoreboard running and took the attack to the opposition. They added 103 to the team total. De Villiers hit Shardul Thakur to 3 consecutive sixes and looked in tremendous touch. They were scoring at almost 10 runs per over. Dwayne Bravo, the champion, was brought into the attack and he got rid of Quinton de Kock (53,37b,1×4,4x6s). In the very next over, De Villiers got out trying to hit Imran Tahir our of the ground. He scored a magnificent 68 of just 30 balls, which involved 2 fours and 8 sixes. Corey Anderson got out cheaply and some cameos from Mandeep Singh & Washington Sundar helped the Royal Challengers Bengaluru post a solid 205 on the scoreboard.
The Chennai Super Kings started off in a horrible manner. They lost Watson, Raina, Billings and Jadeja very cheaply and at one stage they were 72/4 after 9 overs. Ambati Rayudu held one end up and in walked MS Dhoni and rest is history. Dhoni started of his innings with a six of his very first ball and never looked back. The Rayudu Dhoni duo kept the scoreboard ticking and never let the game go out their reach. These two added 101 runs in 53 balls for the 5th wicket and both the batsman reached their half centuries in the process. Ambati Rayudu(82,53b,3x4s,8x6s) was run out when his team needed 30 more in 2 overs. Bravo lived up to his expectations again scoring 14 of 7 including a 4 and a 6 when they needed 16 of the final over. The target came down to 5 of 3 balls and M S Dhoni(70,34b,1×4,7×6) finished the match in style with his trademark 6 over long on to seal the game for Chennai.
