Top 5 All-Time Run Makers In IPL

Twenty 20s are always considered as a batting-favored contests and it is no different in the case of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Let us look at top 5 leading run scorers in all the IPL seasons combined so far:

 

  1. Suresh Raina

Matches: 161, Runs: 4540, Best Score: 100*, Average: 34.13

Suresh Raina has a brilliant record in the Indian Premier League (IPL) playing for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). He has never missed a match for CSK in all the 8 seasons. Raina has played the most number of matches in IPL and it’s no wonder he is leading this chart.

Raina scored 87 runs off just 25 balls in the second qualifier against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in the 2014 season, which is his best knock in his IPL career.

 

  1. Virat Kohli

Matches: 149, Runs: 4418, Best Score: 113, Average: 37.44

Virat Kohli has a dream 2016 season in which he scored 973 runs, the most for any player in a single season of IPL. He does not have single century in T20s until the IPL 2016 season but he ended it with 4 centuries against his name. Incredible!

Virat Kohli scored a hundred (113) in a 15-over match against Kings XI Punjab in 2016. This is the innings which made everyone go crazy!

Matches: 159, Runs: 4207, Best Score: 109*, Average: 32.61

Rohit Sharma finds one way or the other to break any Cricket record with the bat. He is one of the most prolific batsman in the world cricket right now. Yes, he is lazy but his hits are powerful which is why he is mentioned as HIT MAN.

Rohit Sharma lead Mumbai Indians to title victory twice in 2015 & 2017. It’s no wonder Mumbai retained him for the upcoming IPL 2018 season.

 

  1. Gautam Gambhir

Matches: 148, Runs: 4132, Best Score: 93, Average: 31.54

From playing a crucial role in the 2011 World Cup to leading Kolkata Knight Riders to two titles, Gambhir has a great time on the field.

After tasting success with the KKR, Gambhir has now decided to return to the Delhi Daredevils (DD) for the upcoming IPL 2018 season. It would be great if he can inspire Delhi to get into top 4 positions of the points table in this season.

 

  1. David Warner

Matches: 114, Runs: 4014, Best Score: 126, Average: 40.54

David Warner has a good batting average in this tournament. In fact, only Chris Gayle has a higher batting average than Warner among the players with 20 IPL innings or more.

Warner is a great asset for the Sun Risers Hyderabad (SRH) and he played a lead role in taking them to victory in the IPL 2016 season beating RCB in the final.

 

The margin between the top five is so little and no wonder if we could see a new player leading this list at the end of IPL 2018 Season. Stay tuned!
