Delhi Daredevils: IPL 2018 Team Review

Delhi Daredevils: IPL 2018 Team Review

The ‘Delhi Daredevils’, also known as ‘Double D’ or ‘DD’, played in all the ten seasons so far. However, they are yet to win their maiden IPL title. Needless to say, Delhi are yet to play with their full potential in the tournament. They have very few results in their favor which they can boast about!

Delhi Daredevils in IPL so far:

To be fair, the record so far is not so great. Delhi made it to the top four just thrice (2008, 2009 & 2012) while topping the table twice (2009 & 2012). The most saddening part of their journey was that they finished at the bottom of the table thrice in the gap of four years (2011, 2013 & 2014).

2018 Squad Review:

DD recently announced experienced Ricky Ponting as their head coach for the upcoming season. The reunion of Gautam Gambhir with Delhi is the most exciting part of this season. He is certainly the one to lead them during these tough times.

Also, the IPL fans all over are eagerly waiting to witness the partnership between head coach Ponting and Gambhir.

With 10 uncapped players in the 25 player squad, The Delhi Daredevils has got the right mix of young and experienced players. They have got excellent pace battery, good all-rounders, as well as the much needed hard hitters.

Choosing openers could well become tricky for DD with the presence of Gambhir, Munro and Roy. Munro had the experience of playing down the order in this shortest format though.

Squad: Rishabh Pant (retained), Shreyas Iyer (retained), Chris Morris (retained), Glenn Maxwell, Kagiso Rabada, Amit Mishra, Shahbaz Nadeem, Vijay Shankar, Rahul Tewatia, Mohammad Shami, Gautam Gambhir, Trent Boult, Colin Munro, Daniel Christian, Jason Roy, Naman Ojha, Prithvi Shaw, Gurkeerat Singh Mann, Avesh Khan, Abhishek Sharma, Jayant Yadav, Harshal Patel, Manjot Kalra, Sandeep Lamichhane, Sayan Ghosh.

Delhi Daredevils earned more critics than fans in the years gone by. Let us hope the nightmarish results will be forgotten and the upcoming IPL 2018 season will bring them good fortune.
