Bowlers Help Sunrisers Win Against Rajasthan Royals

IPL 2018, 28th Match, Rajasthan Royals vs Sunrisers Hyderabad

Sunday, 29th April, Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur

Match Review :

The Sunrisers Hyderabad came out on top against the hosts Rajasthan Royals, once again in a low scoring encounter, thanks to their bowling.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad opted to bat first on a dry wicket. They lost Shikhar Dhawan early once again. Alex Hales was picked, as the team’s batting was woeful in the earlier matches. Hales and Kane Williamson added 92 runs to the 2nd wicket and this partnership was instrumental in their team reaching 150. Alex Hales scored 45 and got out. The batsmen who followed him didn’t make much addition to the team’s score. Manish Pandey, Shakib Al Hasan, Yusuf Pathan got out cheaply. Kane Williamson the captain was the stand out performer for them scoring 63 in 43 balls including 7x4s and 2x6s. The Sunrisers Hyderabad managed to score 151-7 in their 20 overs, their first score over 150 in their last three games. Krishnappa Goutham was the pick of the bowlers for Rajasthan Royals. He picked up 2 wickets conceding just 18 runs.

The Rajasthan Royals started their chase in a similar manner. They lost the wicket of Rahul Tripathi early. Ajinkya Rahane and Sanju Samson steadied the Rajasthan innings for some time, keeping their team on course. This duo added 59 runs for the 3rd wicket. However the Sunrisers Hyderabad came back into the game by picking up two wickets in quick succession. Sanju Samson and Ben Stokes were back in the hut and the game got wide opened. The required run rate kept creeping up slowly. Jos Butler and Mahipal Lomror got out without much contribution. Ajinkya Rahane was the sole warrior for them. At one stage, they need 36 of 3 overs, but fell short of the Sunrisers Hyderabad score by 11 runs. Ajinkya Rahane remained 65 not out but he would rue the fact that he couldn’t win the game for his team. Siddharth Kaul was the pick of the bowlers for Sunrisers Hyderabad picking up 2-23 in his 4 overs.
