Match Wrap:

India Women beat England Women by 1 wicket in the first ODI match played in Nagpur (on April 06). With this win, India take a lead of 1 – 0 in the three match series. The match has got all the nail biting stuff before India getting over the line safely in the final over of the match.

England opted to bat first after winning the toss. However, they never got going with losing wickets regularly. And in the end they are bowled out for just 207 with 3 balls remaining in their innings. To worsen England’s chances much further, their World Cup star performer, Anya Shrubsole, went wicket less in her 7 overs and is expensive too conceding 44 runs.

If you have been following India’s ongoing home season all along, Smriti Mandhana is their top performer and it is no different today. She once again top scored for the home team with the bat scoring 86 runs off 109 balls with 5 fours and 4 sixes.

India were right in the game until Mandhana lost her wicket. Her departure just triggered the collapse and the match once again went in the same direction as that of the 2017 Women’s World Cup Final. However, India’s last batting pair – Ekta Bisht and Poonam Yadav, added 18 invaluable runs to take India over the line.
