First ODI India Women vs England Women
Friday, April 06, 2018, Nagpur
The Women’s T20I Tri series tournament involving India, Australia and England is done and dusted which Australia has won beating England in the Final by a margin of 57 runs. It is now time for the three match ODI series between India Women and England Women starting from Friday (April 06) in Nagpur.
Last time when these two sides met in this format, England comfortably defeated India in the Final of the Women’s World Cup in England in 2017. Anya Shrubsole went berserk at the fag end of the match to bag a 6-fer which helped England seal the trophy with ease. At one stage, it was India’s game, though.
England openers, Danielle Wyatt and Tammy Beaumont, were off to a great start in the only practice match before the ODI series on Tuesday (April 03). Both batters went back to the pavilion as retired hurt. It is the pair India should keep an eye on if they are looking forward to restrict the Visitors to a low total.
Indian captain Mithali Raj is one shy of completing fifty fifties. This also will make her to take the record for herself ‘most number of fifty-plus scores’ in this format. Currently both Charlotte Edwards (Eng) and Mithali Raj (Ind) has 55 fifty-plus scores each in this format.
Against each other in the recently concluded T20I Triseries, England has chased down a mammoth target in the first game against the hosts. However, they lost to India in the second game very cheaply.
Head to head count:
Having won 35 out of 63 ODI games, England enjoys a slight lead over India in this format. The hosts, on the other hand, has won 26 games and the other 2 matches were abandoned due to different reasons.
When it comes to the ODIs played by England in India, they have won only 18 out of 44 games played and lost the remaining 26 matches.
