Sunday, June 03, 2018, Kinrara Academy Oval, Kuala Lampur
Indian opener Mithali Raj scored an unbeaten 97* runs off just 69 deliveries, including 13 fours and a six to power India Women to 169 for the loss of three wickets against Malaysia Women in the first (T20I) match of the Women’s T20I Asia Cup. Harmanpreet Kaur (32 off 23) and Deepti Sharma (18 off 12) have provided the much needed impetus at the end to help India get to their highest team total.
This score of unbeaten 97* is the highest score for Mithali Raj in this format of the game. In fact, this is the best score made by any Indian player in Women T20Is. Raj scored an unbeaten 76* against South Africa women earlier in February 2018 which is her previous best score in T20Is.
Chasing 170 to win, Malaysian Women didn’t stand a chance against the mighty Indian bowlers. None of their batters were able to get to double figures with Sasha Azmi being their top scorer with just 9 runs. The Six Extras are their second top scorer in this game. They were bowled out for just 27 runs conceding India a massive 142 run victory.
