Quick fire half century from Johnson Charles and an unbeaten Rovman Powell helped Tallawahs chase down the target in 17.2 overs in this game against Barbados Tridents.

Home team Tridents are off to a forgettable start losing opener Hashim Amla in just the second over after being put into bat first. And soon they found themselves in trouble with the scorecard reading 55 for 5 in 9 overs as five of their top 6 batsmen registered single digit scores.

Martin Guptill with his 60-ball 73 guided Tridents towards a respectable total. And his 60-run stand with Imran Khan (20 off 17) for the sixth wicket is the stand out partnership of their innings. Ashley Nurse (20 off 11) provided the much needed impetus at the end to help them go past 150 mark. Tridents got to 151 for the loss of 9 wickets in 20 overs.

Over 7-foot tall Mohammad Irfan provided the much needed breakthrough for the hosts as he removed Tallawahs opener, Glenn Phillips, in the second over of the chase. Johnson Charles (53 off 33) along with Kennar Lewis (8 off 20) then stitched a 56-run partnership for the second wicket to steady the chase.

Both the players departed in quick succession and Rovman Powell (35* off 27) then carried the chase on his shoulders to take his side home. They won the game with 5 wickets in hand and 16 deliveries to spare.

With this victory, Jamaica Tallawahs are back to the top of the points table with 5 wins in 8 games (10 rating points). Barbados Tridents are currently stationed at fifth place (second from bottom) with 2 wins in 6 games (4 rating points).
