Karun Nair to lead BP XI against West Indies

Indian selectors named a 13-member squad for the two-day practice match against West Indies. The one-off practice match between Board Presidents’ XI and West Indies will be played in Vadodara starting from September 29. Karun Nair has been named as the captain for this 13-member squad in the two-day warm up match.

Karun Nair was selected in India’s squad for the recently concluded five match Test series against England. However, he did not play a single game in that series! Hanuma Vihari who made his Test debut in the Oval Test match against England, Mayank Agarwal and Prithvi Shaw also found a place in this 13-member squad.

Basil Thampi, Avesh Khan, Vignesh and Ishan Porel will form Board Presidents pace battery while Saurabh Kumar and Jalaj Saxena are the two spinners in the side. Ishan Kishan will perform the keeping duties while Karun Nair, Prithvi Shaw, Hanuma Vihari, Mayank Agarwal, Ankit Bawne and Shreyas Iyer will take over the batting responsibility.

West Indies will play two Test matches, five ODIs and three T20Is against in this long tour starting from September 29. Windies have already announced their Test squad for this India tour. There are no major changes to their squad except dropping their out-of-form opener Devon Smith.
