Asia Cup 2018, Fifth Match, India vs Pakistan
Wednesday, September 19, 2018, Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai
The much awaited clash is here! ‘Mother of all battles’, many call it! Arch rivals India and Pakistan are coming face to face on Wednesday (Sep 19) in the fifth game of the ongoing Asia Cup 2018 tournament in Dubai. Play is scheduled to start at 05:00 pm IST. Unlike the other games played so far in this season, a packed house is expected for this epic encounter!
Both these teams are playing against each other for the first time since the epic Champions Trophy final in 2017 which was played in England. Pakistan won that game quite comfortably played at The Oval to take the trophy. With the absence of Virat Kohli in India’s batting line-up, Pakistan might fancy their chances to bowl out India quite cheaply!
Openers from both the sides have a great run in their recent games. India’s Shikhar Dhawan, in his last 10 ODIs, scored 2 hundreds and 2 half-centuries and is averaging 63.33 with the bat. On the other hand, Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman, in his last 10 ODIs, scored a double century, a century and four half-centuries!
India are expected to make three changes to their side that played against Hong Kong – Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Manish Pandey might get a place in the playing XI in place of Khaleel Ahmed, Shardul Thakur and Dinesh Karthik. On a lighter note, Bumrah will remember his no-ball that got the wicket of Fakhar Zaman in the Champions Trophy 2017 final when he comes to bowl today!
Poor form of left-arm pacer Mohammad Amir will be a bothering stat for Pakistan. The pacer picked up just three wickets in his previous eight ODIs and unfortunately two of those three wickets are tail-enders! With 74 wickets in 34 ODIs, Hasan Ali will be Pakistan’s go-to pacer in this all-important clash against India!
