PERTH SCORCHERS V MELBOURNE STARS 6:10PM
After opening their campaign with a win against the Sixers in Sydney, the Scorchers will be looking to continue the momentum at home. Andrew Tye was the standout for an injury-depleted Scorchers side taking his second BBL hat-trick in Sydney. Despite the injuries, the Scorchers still have a strong bowling unit with Tye, Mitchell Johnson and David Willey. The Stars will be without Kevin Pietersen, and will be looking to Glenn Maxwell and Marcus Stoinis to score the bulk of the runs. Stoinis will be looking to continue his good form after smashing 99, in the Stars opening loss to the Heat. On paper, the Stars have one of the best batting line-ups in the competition. The major worry for the Stars is their bowling. The Stars will need their bowling unit to help their batsmen after leaking runs against the Heat. The Scorchers are good value for this clash. The passionate home crowd and the experience should see them grab a close win.
BRISBANE HEAT V SYDNEY THUNDER 6:10PM
After their poor performance against the Renegades, the Heat will be hurting. The Heat have injury concerns over Joe Burns and Chris Lynn. Lynn who has missed the first two games of the season will be hoping to take his place in the Heat line-up at the Gabba. This is a crucial clash for both sides who sit at 1-1 on the ladder. The Thunder showed plenty of promise in their opening win against local rivals the Sixers but struggled on the road against the Strikers. Shane Watson remains a key man for the Thunder. After failing with the bat against the Strikers, Watto will be keen to make an impression at the Gabba. Lynn is close to full fitness and will be keen to make a return for the Heat. The Heat have the edge in the bowling department. Shadab Khan has shown why he is one of the leading T20 bowlers in the world in his first two games. Khan is going to enjoy a night out against a Thunder line-up. Expect the Heat to be enjoying the Christmas season with a win at home.
SYDNEY SIXERS V ADELAIDE STRIKERS 6:10PM
The Strikers showed plenty of promise in their opening game. Strikers coach Jason Gillespie has unearthed a diamond in leg-spinner Rashid Khan. Khan one of the leading bowlers in world cricket dominated his first BBL game. This is a crucial clash for the Sixers, lose here and they fall further behind the leaders. Sean Abbot remains a key bowler for the Sixers. Abbot hit some crucial lower runs for the Sixers in their fixture with the Scorchers. Abbot has a knack for finding wickets and picked up the opening three against the Scorchers. Under the leadership of Travis Head, the Strikers have already shown they’ll be a contender for the finals. Expect the Strikers to come away from Sydney with the win. The men in blue are on a mission to make-up for last season. The Strikers look the goods to make an impression with a win in Sydney.
